The Gladiator Series

The Gladiator Series is a children’s sports book collection, bringing sports to life through illustrations and story. The Series introduces children ages 6-10 to the backstory and history of current popular sports, how sports are played today and about the professional teams and players that play them. The Gladiator Series encourages young readers to preservere and know they are not alone in their daily struggles — to fit in with friends, to excel in competition, or to handle conflicts.

I designed the identity to evoke youth’s excitement, confidence, and the love for sports. The identity is anchored by its iconic rhino logo mark. Rhinos are creatures of substance, stamina, and explosive power and associated with confidence, steadiness, and sure-footedness — traits shared amongst athletes.
